Where does the money go?
Have you ever wondered where your money goes when you drop it into the
basket?
Your contribution helps make sure there is a place for compulsive
eaters to meet and share their recovery. Many churches and other
establishments are generous in providing meeting room space, however, they
do charge nominal rent to cover their heating/ air conditioning,
housekeeping and other operating costs.
Your donation also goes toward covering the purchase of supplies,
literature and any group workshops or special events.
When OA was established in 1960, the suggested donation was $1. A
candy bar was a nickel. Stamps were 3 cents. $5,000 bought a luxury
automobile. Times have changed. A dollar will not buy as much as it did
then. A donation of $3 or more for each meeting is suggested, however,
there are no dues or fees to participate.
"Each group ought to be
self-supporting, declining outside contributions."
OA Math: 60 + 30 + 10 = 7th Tradition
After each group’s expenses and Prudent Reserve are met, it is
suggested that the proceeds go to support the work of OA service
bodies with 60% to your Intergroup, 30% to World Service Office, and
10%
to Region III.
60% to Intergroup
It is recommended that 60% of each
group’s proceeds to their Intergroup. An Intergroup is the OA service body
that regularly meets to conduct business affecting OA groups in their
geographic area.
An Intergroup provides services to existing groups within
its geographical area and spreads the OA message of recovery to those
who still suffer.
An Intergroup provides a number of services which may
include:
-
Support of a central
office.
-
Provide local
outreach to professional community, hospitals, schools and libraries.
-
Sponsor recovery
events.
-
Provide newsletters
and meeting lists.
-
Provide telephone
service.
-
Provide funding for
delegates and region representatives, who vote on behalf of your area
on policies and services.
-
Maintain a web site.
If you do not know the address of your
intergroup please consult the
OA
Intergroup Directory.
30% to WSO
The World Service Office (WSO) of OA is located in Rio Rancho, New
Mexico. WSO provides services to newcomers, prepares and distributes
literature, creates Lifeline and hosts conventions and conferences to
carry the message.

Utah. Region III foster communication with groups and intergroups and sponsor

7th Tradition Worksheet.
Thank you for your contributions.
Each dollar you put in the basket helps ensure that there will be one
more meeting and more opportunity to "carry the message" to other
compulsive overeaters.
Overeaters Anonymous is a
501(c)3 non-profit organization.
